In 1908 Percy Bragg started 1st Chelmsford, he then went on to help start Writtle, Gt Baddow, Gt Waltham and Boreham. These Troops were registered with Scout HQ on 5th July, 31st July, 11th September and 8th November respectively.

The Waltham history is as follows:

Probably formed in 1910 informally (as was done in those days) then officially registered with HQ on the 11th September 1911 as 4th Chelmsford (Great Waltham), then in 1913 re-registered as 1st Great Waltham. The Troop ran from 1913 to 1922 then ceased for a few years restarting in 1928 to 1932, again a break appearing for one year only in 1938, beginning again during the war in 1943 to 1947, in 1947 renamed 14th Chelmsford (The Walthams) but only had a Cub Pack, no Scouts. In 1950 it joined with Gt. Leighs Scouts as a Group, in 1952 also amalgamated with 22nd Chelmsford (Boreham Airfield), then re-registered in 1959 as 1st Great Walthams changing again in 1970 to The Walthams as it is today.

We have no records as to where these Troops met.
